Keep webs out of your home and protect your family from venomous bites.
Spiders are arachnids, not insects. They have eight legs and two body segments. While most spiders found in Ohio homes are harmless and actually help control other insect populations, their webs are a nuisance, and a high spider population usually indicates a secondary pest problem (their food source).
However, there are two medically significant spiders present in Central Ohio that require professional attention:
Identifiable by a dark brown, violin-shaped mark on its back. They are shy and hide in dark, undisturbed areas like basements, attics, and inside stored cardboard boxes. Their bite causes severe tissue necrosis (tissue death) that requires medical treatment.
Easily recognizable by its shiny black body and the distinctive red hourglass shape on the underside of its abdomen. They prefer cluttered areas like garages and woodpiles. Their venom is a neurotoxin that causes severe muscle cramps and systemic pain.
Because spiders are not insects, many traditional bug sprays do not affect them effectively. Their long legs keep their bodies off the ground, so they don't easily pick up chemical residues.
Our approach focuses on removing their food source and their habitat. We perform thorough exterior perimeter treatments to keep insects away, and we physically knock down webs around eaves, windows, and porches. For indoor issues, we use specialized targeted treatments in the dark corners where spiders like to hunt.
Stop dealing with cobwebs and keep dangerous spiders away from your family.
