Carpenter Bee Control

Structural Wood Damage

Identification & Signs

Often mistaken for bumblebees, Carpenter bees have smooth, shiny black abdomens (unlike the fuzzy abdomens of bumblebees). They are solitary bees, meaning they do not live in colonies.

  • Perfect Holes: You will notice perfectly round, 1/2-inch holes drilled into the unpainted wood of decks, eaves, and siding.
  • Frass: Piles of coarse sawdust (frass) often accumulate directly below the drilled entry holes.

The COBE Treatment Protocol

Simply spraying the bees as they fly by will not solve the issue, as the eggs are laid deep inside the wood tunnels. We apply a specialized insecticidal dust directly into the galleries. Once the bees are eliminated, the holes must be sealed to prevent future generations from reusing the tunnels.
